Highest safe rpm driving

oh, well ok that explains it.

4500RPM isn't going to cause any problems on a trip...but might not be a good practice over the lifetime of the truck. Might take it from a 300,000 mile motor to a 250,000 mile motor.

Nah I generally run 3500 RPM@ 70MPH on the highways here because im not a huge speeder but I like to run 5 mph over because all my jobsites are a minimal of 40 miles away usually more(and if I hit a rush hour it can take 2 hours if I dont take advantage of the LOW traffic the first 10 miles from my house. I only take roadtrips through 75 mph zones 5-6 times a year. Just rolled over to 125K last night. Now at 125,125 so I estimate by next october when its time to move up to a newer ranger my miliage will be about 150K(I drive too much)

I keep mine above 3k at all times, as it either dosent have any power, or has a hitching issue around 2500rpm that I still havent resolved.

I must have crusing gears in mine. It turns 3000 revs at 70 in 5th. If you run your engine revs that high, it reall kills the mileage.

so you're probably running about 3.5k at 80? THAT sounds normal to me.

But he said it doesn't even shift into OD, so he'd probably be running about like yours if he was.
