High RPM Miss

OK, I'll get a picture of it on my cell phone and send it to my e-mail and then forward it to your email. I am very digital challenged, so it is not likely I would be able to get it on the sight here. It would surely fry my brain. Put your e-mail on the next post and I'll send you a picture.

Last time i checked everything was fine...
no codes...

Well i took my chances...

Replaced the coil for another one lying around...
Replaced the MAP sensor with another one lying around and
Repaired a couple wires off the bundle one in particular to the coil...

Drove fine all the way home... this morning as pulling into my work it started missing again... GODAMMIT i cant figure this out... maybe it wont act up on the ride home after work !

What you think?

Just get it smogged as it is. What gear did it do it in and what was the rpm? Was it being put under a heavier load that it had to pull itself out of, like turning in second but it was going slow enough to that it sould have been put in first?

No its mostly higher gears 2nd sometimes, 3rd and 4th right before im supposed to shift...

that high of rpms i cant give an exact number becuase i dont know...

But for now im using it as an indicator to shift which is horrible..

i cant even get on the freeway it just misses all over the place... sucks so bad...

on my drive home tho it felt as it improved 100%

until this morning where i realized i was wrong haha...

Huh? its advanced when i unplug the spout connector it drops severly then when back in it screams up in RPM's so i know it advances!

Sounds to me

like it is running out of fuel.. Put a new fuel filter on it.. Sometimes it is the easy things.

Ya those little filters do plug up real easy. My dad put in an in a see through in line filter to know when to change it. Got it from wal-mart for like 5 bucks.

It's a common thing for guys to think they have a lectric problem when all the time it is a fuel filter.. As they get partially stopped up they fail at rpm and hiway speeds as they will flow a little but not enough to do hiway speeds.

Ok sorry i have replaced 3 of them in the past month by the way just in case...

maybe i too should get a see through one to maybe see if sh!ts coming out of my tank?

My ghetto tag (temporary registration until smog) expires this weekend and planned on smogging it but theres no Way in H3LL it will pass with a miss like this...

any other ideas guys im truely about to send it to a mechanic and get jerked around until i pay enough money and he spots the problem...

AND I DONT WANT TO...

so please anything else?

How old is the fuel pump?

Okay we need to isolate the problem. When did it start happening? What was the very last part(s) put on right before the miss? Does it do it when it is first started (cold start)
or when it is fully warmed up? Can you get it to miss while it idles? If so, mabey a video will help us out.

What are the regulations on California smog, I'm look them up and take a look. I dont know if they are more concernd about emissions or an engine miss.

I want to see this truck be your DD and not something holding down your driveway, like mine is doing right now.

I dont know about the fuel pump? and im not entirely sure because i bought the truck not too long ago and immediatly started replacing parts on it becuase i knew it had to...and its wierd sometimes i can drive 10 miles without a miss then the nest time i start my truck and drive it it starts missing again
