by cleaning the catalytic conv. Watched Scotty Kilmer's video on YouTube on cleaning them.
Now, I had to build a cleaning contraption out of 5 five gallon buckets since my cat is a dual stage measuring 28 inches long. (Had to cut the bottoms out of 4 of the buckets and siliconed them together.)
I soaked it overnight in Formula 409 and water. The next day I hosed it out with a garden hose and the carbon flowed out like a river.
The thing was so carboned up the catalyst couldn't work.
Would suggest doing this before purchasing a new one.

Too many short trips...

and using low test QT gasoline with no additives most likely.
My NOx was over 3000 and would not pass emissions for this area.
And the engine has over 200K on it.

Is it true????

They are welding the cats on for the new vehicles??? What year did they start this??? Thanks.

Yeah they do...

they're a kind of do-all cover up device. Did the article say when they started welding converters on?
Thanks.

This year I tried...

TIDE laundry detergent and although it passed, I didn't get as good of numbers in the test.
Also, you might want to leave off the third bolt (the one thats hard to get to) on the front of the cat.
