any 2300/2500 lima engine with high miles out there:icon_surprised:

im on my fourth lima engine , but mine spend the majority of the time floating valves off road and trying to get the thing up to highway spend I haven't seen one over 90k mine were 86 ranger 2.3/ 86 mustang lx 2.3/ 87 mustang lx 2.3 and a 87 ranger 2.3 , now I have a 2.3T out of a thunder chicken

Feed, water and lube them within reason, and they'll last 300,000 miles with no problem. You have to work to destroy them, or ignore any sort of maintenance schedule. They'll take some overheating that would kill a dohc 2.3 several times over, and keep going.
If the previous post had kept the rpms under 6k, coolant oil supplied, they'd likely still be running. To my knowledge, the turbo T-bird uses the same head & block as the Mustang II and Ranger. Nothing special.

My 2.3 is some where around 230,000. So far it's still going strong and compression is reasonable for a high mileage engine. I was about to replace it because my oil level was going down and it turned out to be a leaking valve cover gasket. Maintance has been minimal with normal oil changes. This is a 2.3 5 speed 3.55 reg cab.

My dad has not had it since March of 2001 but he had a 1980 Pinto with the 2.3L Lima engine and it had 350,000 miles on it when he finally junked it. I once had a 1987 Mustang with the 2.3L Lima engine and it had 194,000 miles on it when I traded it in 15 years ago for a 1995 Ranger.

Have a 93 ranger 5spd 2.3 at 375xxx and still going. Having some timing issues as the only mechanic I took it to managed to break both halves of the timing cover, so now I don't have the timing marks. Said it was like that when it came to him (BS!).

Gather has a 98 2.5 5speed that he bought new. Just rolled 319k on original engine. It is getting warn but its still his daily

My 90 2.3 just hit 215k,has a cracked exhaust manifold, other than the issues following that, runs like a champ!

My '94 2.3 has ~262k on it. The original engine came out in 2005 at 154,XXX because it was chirping from a stop in 1st gear. Used replacement had 13X,XXX miles on it hence the approximation. The original engine would probably still be going just fine but I was young and dumb and didnt know how to diagnose the problem then. It probably won't make it to 270k before a small block finds its home under the hood.

485,000 and climbing..

Use my '93 2.3 five speed daily delivering car parts..bought it with 141,000 on it..now just over 485,000..drive it 250 or more highway miles per day- mon -fri..doesn't use any oil, just normal maintenance , oil changes, replace parts when they fail..and keep going got cold air and hot heat..sold my '96 Ranger a few years ago when it hit 498,000..same drive train....but these pale in comparison to my '92 Geo Metro I drove for seven years on the same route...put almost 800,000 on it, before I gave it to my son...who put another 10,000 on it before it blew a head gasket...
