High Idle

Does your motor idle too high? Mine did. I got the 1506 iac overspeed code, and was idling at 1500. I checked the Idle Air Control like it says in the book, by ohming it out and it tests fine. But the real problem is that the inside is crudded up and the plunger is stuck. It says not to clean it on a sticker on the outside of the iac, i got one off a taurus at the boneyard anyway and now im idling at 700, im not sure whether i would believe that youll kill it by cleaning it, but anyway all ya gotta do is look inside to see that its done for. Thanks to Dave for help with this one.

your lucky you werent working on my escort...it had one 5/16 headed bolt and one 3/8 headed bolt holding the IAC on.

guys remove and clean those solenoids all the time, never seems to hurt them. ive done all 3 of mine...its always helped smooth and lower my vehicles idles.
