High idle problem with 2002 Focus

I know it's not a Ranger problem, but there are a lot of Ford guys in here and I hope someone can help.

We purchased an automatic 2002 Focus ZTW (2.0 zetec engine) a few months ago for my wife and have been having an issue since we bought it. It was idling at 1,100rpm and in drive it would go ~25mph with no throttle. Also, driving at 55mph if you slipped it in neutral it would rev to 3,200rpm all on it's own. I found the throttle stop screw and brought it down (someone had messed with it, the car had a bad coilpack and was off timing by one tooth when we got it, I think they had turned it up to compensate). It now idles at 750rpm and goes maybe 13-15mph in drive no throttle which seems pretty normal. It still revs at speed though. At 55mph it revs to 2,900 rpm now, and it slowly drops to 2,200rpm on it's way coasting down to 40mph. Then from 40mph all the way to 12mph it holds exactly 2,200 rpm, below 12mph it drops to 1,000 or a little less and at a stop it goes to 750rpm.

What's up? What would cause speed related idling issues like this?

my truck does the same thing. if im doing 45 in neutral its idle is at like 1500. if it has a clutch fan the wind is pushing the engine.

I mentioned earlier, some idiot had turned up the idle speed by cranking in the throttle stop. I, like an idiot, figured I had turned it down enough when I cranked it down quite a bit this morning. I was wrong. I was reading through the focaljet forums and found a thread that was saying that it should be turned in just enough to give a firm contact with the throttle arm. I checked it out more thoroughly and found out I had to take it down another 4 turns! I tested it was in enough by putting a piece of paper between the throttle stop and the arm, letting go of the throttle and then trying to pull out the paper, when I couldn't pull it out then I knew it was good.

Now the car drives perfect!
