i have a 85 ranger 2.3 4*2 the person before me put 3.08 gears in and i got it and put 4.10s in now at 75 its running around 3200 rpm is that normal or is that to high and im about to make a trip from oregon to Minnesota would it be bad to run it at 3200 rpm for 1800 miles

this is normal because when you changed the rear axle ratio your driveshaft/engine has to make more revolutions to get the same speed.

3200 will not hurt the engine. you could try slowing down

2800-3200 is right about perfect for 5th at highway speed with a 2.3l. Not going to hurt anything.

cool thanks

i know changing the rear ratios will make the rpms higher that was the whole point to this post and the speed limit thro Montana is 75 so i cant slow down but that news sounds good to me thanks guys
