Ok so I ordered a set of HID's for both my headlights and foglights on my 06 Ranger FX4... Install went fine and no problem... Now the problem is when the truck is running and the daytime running lights are just on the highbeam indicator is on the dash... Turn the headlight switch to the middle position and the fog lights come on and work, turn it to the full on position and the foglights now go out... I also have no switch between high and low beam, and yes the kit I ordered was a high/low beam kit...

Also when coming to a stop while driving or changing from drive to reverse the truck wants to die like the battery is dead...

Does anyone have any idea what might be going on or if I cant run HID in both headlights and foglights... I need help on this one!

sounds like you might have crossed a wire some where, re trace your steps, make sure you have a good ground for each one and the positives (the ones with the fuse's) for each ballast goes to the battery, not any other place, there is also a chance you have H9004 setup, for your HID's this will cause the same thing sense the leads for the bulbs are not the same configuration but the housing would be identical.
in this case change out the blue and black wires, leaving the grey alone; on your H/L controler for the HID's

so basicly just recheck what you did and trace your wires.
if it all worked correctly before you installed them, then it would have been something you done and might not have realized it.

Ok, Ive gone thru all my wiring again and its all correct... Its a complete plug and play set.. There is only one way to plug everything together... Grounds are rock solid so its not that either... On the bulbs themselves it has a piece that is removeable to use them as a 9004 or with the piece on its a 9007.. I dont know if maybe they are just the wrong bulbs or what but its really starting to piss me off...

If I get the chance Im gonna take the truck to my buddy who works at a stereo shop and has done lots of HID installs..

Does it make a huge difference where the ballasts are mounted? Do they have to be a certain distance from the bulbs?

Nope, I have my ballasts just a few inches from the headlight, and on my other cars Ive had them all over, as long as they can get some sort of air flow to help them cool down they will work and last for a long time.

Hmmmm, Im really stumped then on this one... Cant figure out the problem..

Do you have a H/L Controller like the on in the right of the picture?

Sound's like the wires that plug into the one headlight socket are crossed they are set up with reverse polarity from rangers, switch the pins in the connector and it should work fine. The reason your fogs are turning off is because you cant run them with your high beams on.

Tried that too and there was no change... Gonna try and troubleshoot some more this weekend..
