Hey guys and gals, I have a little bit of a hickup when under a load or when using full throttle in 5th....kind of stutters for a 1/2 second. Any ideas?

Also, my tach doesn't work correctly most of the time...is there a pick up I could clean up or something?

Thank you for the help...love the site!

How long has it been since the sparkplugs have been changed? On the tach problem I am seeing there have been problems with the circuit board and connections in the cluster on these trucks.

I think the tach is wired into the coil. @RonD is that correct?

What im getting at is the two issues maybe related....

I'm unsure. I just purchased the truck from my neighbor, and it has been sitting for a bit, year maybe. It doesn't seem like a misfire to me...more like a total cut off. It happens so quick.

But that seems like a cheap fix so I'll try that first! Thank you

When there is a distributor and single coil then yes, the tach signal comes from "-" terminal on the coil

In distributorless systems it comes from crank sensor via spark module or computer
