Been lurking here for almost a year, reading, trying to figure out the ins and out of the various flavors of Rangers, figuring what I should go for, what to expect in reliability from various motors and/or transmissions.
The site had the info I needed as I don't mind getting my hands dirty to do some fixes/repairs.
Started seriously looking for a Ranger last week.
I finally bough one yesterday. Just brought it back home tonight. It is an Edge 2001 3 liters manual transmission 2WD (122,000 Kilometers). It has a Supercab (R14, suicide doors) and it came with summer tires and winter ones.
The truck's serial number had a Y as a fourth digit and the V.I.N. decoder stops at M. that got me puzzled but the insurance Co said the serial number was legit...
Btw, I got the Haynes manual (bought it this afternoon). This manual only describes HOW to fix/replace parts, not what can go wrong, and how to either prevent it or giving a work-around solution (Yay TRS!).
Thanks to you guys (and gals) I knew exactly what and where to look when I inspected the truck.
and finally; a question!
Anybody ever had their CB create any RF interference to either any other electrical-electronical-the car's computer itself or anything relating to the fuel injection?
When I install one I'll do it right the first time around.
