Hi Lift jack receiver mount

Today I saw a shiny yellow TJ with a well detailed high lift bolted right in the middle of the hood.Am I the only one that thinks this is idiotic? To me this equates setting your toilet in the middle of a doorway. Oh well to each there own I guess.

Sounds like a good way for your face to become good friends with a hi-lift during a wreck.

No doubt! I wonder how long the hood latch would hold up with all that weight bouncing on it... lol

They usually mount using the existing hinge bolts. Pretty stout part, actually. Not out in the middle of the hood, which would put a lot of stress on the latch and the hood itself.

Yeah, I've messed with one a little bit and it seems pretty sturdy... however anything can break in a wreck and frankly, I'm not willing to risk 30-40lbs of jack hitting me in the face.

Not to mention the fact that the glass would be between you and the jack......could be quite messy when it's all over.

The aftermarket HiLift jack mounts for open-top Jeeps are made to attach with the hinge bolts. They have been around for a while. I made a set for a guy in a local Jeep club, too. http://www.jeepexpeditions.org/equipment_reviews_toadhop.php

Last year when wheeling with a group of Toyota's and Jeeps in the Orlando area, we saw a neat looking 04 Rubicon that smacked a tree about 35 mph. It had the Hi Lift mounted on the hood and it did not budge. It is mounted very secure and safe. I do not know of anybody who has had any issues with there Hi Lift jack bolted on the hood.

yeah noone in MSJ has had issues with it. i've seen them roll, seen them hit trees, stop dead in their tracks from hitting a rock..

i'm sure it might be possible, but they are pretty stout mounted there. it's a little different than mounting one on a rbv hood.

looks great

Thanks, guys. The powder coat is done and the mount is supposed to be sent back out Saturday. I should get it early next week and I can mount it up and see if my specs were right on.

Hi Lift Jack mount updated

Ok, guys!!! Here is the updated Hi Lift jack mount with the fresh powder coat job. It is now raised up to give more clearance as some of you said it might be a better idea to do so. I think this job came out really nice. I can use it on either the front receiver or the rear. The rear will be the main choice since I sold my small military type trailer and won’t use a trailer.
I thought about having a trailer ball area mounted but thought against is since I sold my trailer. I will post photos as soon as I get the jack mounted!! I am busy today.....working on projects with my Jeep wrangler and my Rogue (roof rack install). I will try to get to the jack this weekend or next week. Just other issues have come up!!! Not enough time in the day anymore...lol

I am having a bad day. I am trying to put on my new Yakima roof rack on my 2010 Nissan Rogue...I am baking banana bread and I have the AC/ tech and the plumber here at the same time for my annual inspection. They are both from the same company. A friend just stopped by to have me restring his Fender Strat I gave him last year, and I have to go pick up my Wrangler when my wife gets home and I have my once a year real bad headache. I need more time in the day....lol. I think I will finish up the roof rack next week. I need to trim off at least 8 inches on the crossbars. I don't like my crossbars sticking way out. Yakima sent me 58 inch bars and I really should have gotten the 48 inch bars. I only have a few things planned for next week.....Ahhhhhhh

Here is my Ranger's roof rack. I trimed about 8 inches off them and this is how I like them to look.
