I’m Bill, I have been using the forums to solve the problems on all my rangers. Thought I would join up and be active in a forum that I leach off of.
My first ranger was a 1987 2wd manual 4cyl white. $100 purchase price.
I defiantly got my money’s worth out of it. I drove it thru 2 trees and got it stuck in a little mud. 1 tree at a time and the mud was not near the trees.
The second ranger was a 1989 extended cab 4x4 manual.

Fun truck but the 6 cyl didn't stand up to the miles I was doing that year, it was on its second motor and Trans, new rubber and original rims.
It sat in my driveway until I sold it for the same price I bought it for.
2 months ago I bought a 1988 stx 4x4 on 31s manual and rusty.
It was the most expensive of my rangers at $1000,
Someone did a bad body lift, 1/2 of the body mounts are not installed correctly and the cab lists to one side.
The 4x4 doesn’t work, manual locking hubs are shot and the windows don’t roll up or down when you want them to. They will roll down on their own. Always dripping oil from the valve seals, and might need a rear main seal.
All in all a fun truck!
I am a Computer Repair tech in CT.
I always do all my repairs myself and if something was repaired wrong I can only blame myself. So I have not done anything to bad, only forget to install a head gasket once in 5 engine rebuilds and it still ran without it.
On the weekends since I don’t know many 4x4 trails that my ranger will survive. I am usually scanning eBay for a deal on parts for it.
