Hello just to let everyone know that I'm a new guy... I have been reading this site for the last few months leading up to my new purchase. I purchased a 2010 B4000 in June and so far so good.

My prevouis car was a 2005 cooper, and let me tell you, this community seems way more friendly than the cooper forums I have been with. Every time anyone with a cooper would ask a question the general replies were all, sell it and by an "S". So far I havent seen any of that type of snobbish behavour on this site. It doesnt matter the year or model everyone just seems excited to help each other out and share their experances. I like...:icon_cheers:

I do have some questions...

I have a 2010 5 speed B4000, 4X4 and was wondering if I have the PVH hubs everyone is not so fond of? As well the version of tranny I have, will it have the issue where the rubber plugs at the top of the tranny will eventually leak fluid.

I have read the tech library and couldn't get the specifics, just trying to wrap my head around the truck before I start modding.

not sure about your questions, im used to the older rangers. but yeah everyone on here is really helpful and friendly for the most part.

anyways welcome to therangerstation!

the vacumm hubs were in 98-00 trucks. in late 00 ford ditched em and went with live axle shafts.. so yours has no vacumm hubs
i have no idea on your other question lol

Welcome to TRS! :icon_cheers:

Well, I'm not 100% sure about your front axle question, but looking at the shop manual it appears that you have a live axle. Not the PVH setup. to be sure you can look behind the front wheels if you cut the wheel the whole way to one side. If you see to lines running into the back of the knuckle, those would be the vac lines. If not, it's a live axle. I'm pretty sure they haven't used the PVH for a while not though.

As for the trans question. You do have the M5OD. I haven't seen many issues with the plugs leaking in the last few years. I'm thinking that they may have finally gotten that hammered out. I am quite sure however that one of the other techs will come along and say that they do three a week though.

Hey thanks for the responses. I hope I made the right choice with the truck. I just wanted something thats fairly reliable, and that everyone can work on. The mini was not so reliable and I was 40km away from the dealer. As well I have a house now, so lots of projects for me to do...

My first choice was a Ranger, but the local dealership were not being very helpful, so went across the street to mazda and bam. For the most part the ranger and the b series are the same, and everyone I know with a Ranger loves them, and has nothing but good things to say...

didnt even know they were still making the b series....dont guess ive seen one

Sell it and buy an S. joking of course and a sense of humour on here is always a good thing.

I'm in the lower mainland, bc, canada and the b series and the ranger are very popular. The Mazda dealer in langley, bought all of Mazda Canada's stock of b series trucks back in the spring, so they sell very well. I just read that the b series last year in the US was 2009. Maybe they were not so popular in the US.

Is there any issues with the b series I should be keeping an eye on while I still have warenty?
