Hey gang. I've just picked up a '91 Ranger with only 79,000km's for dirt cheap($50). The truck is in great shape but the engine block has a big hole in it. It's a 2.3 auto and I was wondering what other year engines will fit. Also I need a torque converter. Will an engine from a '93 or '94 Ranger 2.3l fit? Any help is appreciated,

any 2.3 94 and older should be pretty simple to swap.

yeah, '89-94 should be the easiest swap, just keep the stock sensors and wiring harness, being an auto it probably doesn't have EGR, and most likely any new one will, so just swap over the parts...

Thanks guys. Found a '94 motor and trans for $150, got a lot of Kilometers on it but I can hear it running and the trans doesn't slip. It's an 8 plug engine like the engine thats currently in the truck, I just wanted to make sure the '94 Engine will work in a '91.

Should it be a direct bolt in and wire up or are there modifications?

just take all the electronics and wiring off your old motor and throw it on the new one, bolt it up and drive it like you stole it. have fun. also, i would change the timing belt while you have the motor out.
