hey wats up everyone i got a problem wit my 90 2.9
It has almost 50,000 original miles as far as I know on it. I wrecked it recently and parked it for almost a month just cranking it every now and then.]I checked the oild before I first cranked it and it was a qt low and the antifreeze was prolly 2 quarts of coolant too low.I refilled everything and drove it all day and it never gave me any problems. The next morning it was low on coolant and from each morning since then I have to add coolant a lot during the day if I drive it. I just now noticed the temp. needle on the cluster goes up to the r in normal then dies down real quick but a few seconds later it jumps back up. It smokes after its been running usually and it has a bad idle, it usually idles normally until i have got the motor all warmed up then park and try to recrank. I put some stop leak in the radiator and my brother actually put the whole tube of pellets in the tank. I noticed water pouring outta my fender when i was letting it idle after we put it in. i popped the hood and suds was pourin out the overflow. im assuming we put too much. I checked the radiator this morning and it was low again but the overflow had a little bit in it. I also noticed a whitish/grey substance in the radiator top. im hoping it might be from the stop leak. sorry about the poor writing skills

check the underside of your oil cap for anything that is not oil...

Don't sound real encouraging for you... suspect cracked head.
check you oil , if it has simular whitish/gray slimmy snot on the under side of the oil fill cap. almost guarentee it. + concidering it going through that much coolant.

If you care to know pull out the spark plugs, keeping track of which holethey came from....then note which are really clean and which dirty or normal looking....the clean one are the one that is the problen area.

remove head and replace

hey yea i replaced the spark plugs the other day and all of them were gassy smelling and some had what it looked like to be oil all over them. idk much about trucks or w/e but im trying to determine what to do. thanks for everyones help up front.

water problem

i think it is a blown head gasket which would couse the smoke and the lock of water and neaver use that much stop leak some people sweer by it but i alwas had the opinion or fix the problem not mask it the run off over flowing was probly the stopleak sticking the cap open (they are pressure moved normaly to let out the extra pressure into the run off tank) so you may now nead a new cap but they are only like $5 depending on were you live and were you go to get it

for starters, please try to seperate your ideas with proper punctuation.... it makes my head hurt to read those ramblings

on top of that, its a 2.9 so he doesnt have a blown head gasket. he has a cracked head. youre right about that stop leak, atleast to an extent. its got a habit of plugging radiators. not to mention that stop leak in the overflow isnt gonna do much good.

prelude: check for compression on all 6 cylinders. any abnormally low cylinder will point you in the right direction. after you get your head issue straightened out, flush and fill the radiator
