hey there

Hey just tryin to help...:icon_rofl:

I hope I didnt sound like an asshole... haha.

I created an f-series forum that the other co-founder banned me from and stole from me, then I created a couple import forums.. and lastly I created and am still running a website for Ford Crown Victorias. the link is the homepage that I have listed. you can still sign up even if you don't own a panther platform car.

Welcome to the forum :)

Theres probably some difference between 4x4 and 2wd tire sizes, but my '89 came origonally with 215s. Waaay too small for a offroad truck lol But maybe what ur looking for. No experience whatsoever in the lowered trucks tho. :P

In my pictures i have 235 tires on it with the 15" rims. Maybe if u compare u could picture my truck lowered a bit? lol (And FYI... im gettign 33" tires next time i upgrade... these were just a free upgrade from the 215s :P)

hey, sorry for the delay... my tires look abnormally small, maybe its just because it has 17 inch rims on it. I plan to put bigger tires on and maybe change out the gearset if the issue with the high rpms arent resolved.

On another note, are these trucks LSD equipped? or is is Right wheel drive... I notice that my right wheel has alot less tread than my left tire.

The only rangers to get an LSD is the FX4 level 2. They get 31 splin axles too.

LSD helps lock in both wheels when one starts to slip. think posi. 2wd just have open diffs one wheel only. I've seen members take the rears from the fx4 and put'em on 2wd. I think they come with 4:10 gears from the factory.

oh, ok... yea.. I guess I was thinking solid rear end or whatever has the same result as a welded diff, where its both wheels full time..

yea, my friend has a locker on his 03 police interceptor. i guess lockers are switch operated then right?

Yea they have air lockers, and they have lockers like the detroit locker that keep the axles locked but it unlocks in the turns took keep the outside wheel spinning faster for better control you can hear it lock and relock as you go down the road to keep the tires spinning correctly. I don't think i'm explaining correctly but something like that.

Don't buy into the one wheel drive myth. Open any book on automotive principals such as tm 9-8000 and have a read. It will save you money you may have otherwise wasted in a spool or locker you don't even need.

Don't get me wrong, there is a place for spools and lockers. Those who understand the function of a differential know where their place is. However your use of the phrase one wheel drive tells me education will benefit you much more than a locker.

I know what the uses are for, and I never claimed that I needed it... I only brought it up because my F150 has a LSD and I was just wondering if the ranger had it too.

I called it one wheel drive because when you lose traction, it only powers one wheel.... if you wanna get all technical then yes, both wheels still get power but only when road conditions are perfect

EDIT: Reading this again 6 months later... I kind of think I came across a little rude, I apologize. I know you were just trying to point a fact out.
