Hey Ford!!! Screw you guys!!!!

Thanks to every one who seemed to correct my statements about the 3.0 Vulcan. Even though I don't think I was wrong in any way, shape, or form. As a long time Ranger owner/Driver, most of my wrenching has been on the 3.0 Vulcan motor. I would not say I'm an expert at all, but I know my way around a 3.0. I don't know anything about a cologne, duretec or lima. OK? I just said it (3.0 vulcan) was an oddball motor, and that the Vulcan has no siblings. It is the only motor in the Vulcan family, whereas the Lima and Cologne motors have more than one.
I think technically they have two cousins, if not direct siblings of the Vulcan. There's the shop v6, and then I think they made a V8 and possibly one other motor out of the Vulcan as well.

Somebody around these parts once swore that the rear or front wheel drive Vulcan 3L shares a bellhousing pattern with the 3.8, but I honestly have no idea.

Drove it today, no power below 2K RPM. Found the phaser slipped on the intake cam.

Screw you Ford.

So it doesn't look like it slipped after it was torqued, just that it moved while tightening?

I think if the damper had slipped after being tightened it would be off in the other direction.

Is this engine similar to my 1.6 feista? Im now at 32,000 miles and its paid off... wondering if the best financial move would be to sell since its clean and low mile and runs great? I still need another tiny great gas mileage car though... opinion sir ford tech master certified king?

I will never work on the feista... like ever. Except oil and brakes.

Buy a escort.

Oh they make a 2021 escort now? I have my ranger, and my mustang, I understand your love of the old stuff but for my daily driver I want zero work and a warranty so I want new. You make fun of my feista but I actually think you would like driving it, it makes 209hp and weighs nothing and when the powershift dual clutch trans is working its amazing, and it handles nice. But i didn't buy it to last long, its a throw away car. My question was to throw it away now, so i get some money back or just ride it till it dies.

We are pretty similar rusty, i just love bustin your balls. In this case though no... no escort... new car.

I actually have a shed full of 460s and parts, including a dual quad tunnel ram... i love my 429s/460s. But lets be real. Ford choked them to death and left the platform open to racing modifications.

Ecosport!

Ecosport!

In my darkest hours have contemplated dismantling my mothers 2.3 ecoboost edge and putting the parts on my ranger. To be honest it doesnt really feel too much faster than my 2.3 duratec. But the edge has what like 1,500 pounds more? The 10 speed is amazing though. The ole 5r44e just cant keep even a non turbo engine in the powerband but that 10 speed pulls and pulls and pulls... its an amazing transmission.

Honestly id pry never own another escort either. Unless i could find a late 80s pony with a 4 speed. I liked those alot better then the mazda inspired ones i had.

I get your point about new with warrenty etc etc....but meh....maybe im lucky but my old shit serves me pretty well. Rusty 2.0 was a pain in the ass in the beginning but ever since its been trouble free.

IF i ever bought a new car itd be a 5.7 Challenger. *Maybe* a 5.0 mustang. With a manual...thats a given. I like the new mustangs the more i see them with the long nose and short trunk it reminds me kind of my favorite mustangs...the 71-73 big bodies

As far as the 460 goes....yes they have their faults but really the only time i want for a bit more power is on a 45-65 freeway merge with my camper in tow. But i like the getaway from a stop power.

My wifes 08 edge is surprisingly heavy, like 5k+ on the co-op’s scale. About as heavy as my 4wd F-150.

It moves good... but I have low standards.

I was trying to talk my wife into an edge to replace the escape but shes hung up on a damn subaru.

She aint parkin it in my driveway.

I have been trying to talk mine into a Wrangler or 4Runner.

I don’t like driving with my knee on the dash and the Edge gets high centered in snow easily.

I wont buy anything newer for myself ever again im gonna stick with obd1 vehicles from now on or pre emissions.... you can make them into whatever you want as long as you dont live in California.....

At this point I'd take the Subaru.

I'm so pissed off at Ford right now I want to throw a 4.3 in my Ranger.
