Those decals are freaking sweet!!! But I think I have seen them somewhere... oh yeah, on my 84 Ranger. Only mine is white. It would be cool to get a picture of both of our trucks together, one white, one black... same decals. Either way keep posting pics and keeping us informed.

Mine is a tad different, I have a different most things o_0. like the side mirrors, the trim, and etc.

BTW, here is my ceiling console (stock):

It has a stainless steel fold down (3 point) light (still works), and a 4 button digital clock (hour, minute, set, reset).

Here is the mileage (rolled over 4 times, according to title).

Any ideas on where/who can get a brake line done for me cheap? mine rusted through. I was parking it too, and hit a trailer. It blew when I hit them.
Also, that means the fuel lines might want to be redone too.

the plastic ground effects on the bottom of it, never seen that before, i thought the first ground effects for a ranger was in the ranger GT

They are metal actually.... just checked, but it is a trim.

I don't know where in the states but at Canadian tire you can get bulk brake line tube o bend yourself. Whatever your equivalent is.

That console is awesome, that light looks like something off an 1900's paddlewheeler or something

the overhead light and clock is cool, don't think I have seen that option yet. I just redid the brake lines, its not too hard. Just go to autozone and they have the brake line cutter and bender you can rent, and brake line is pretty cheap. I think I did everything on mine for under $40 and that included renting the tools. (The tools are free to rent at AutoZone but you have to put down a deposit that you get back when you return them)

I have 2 autozones, might make a run to one this weekend with Jason to see about having it done for me. I might just take the ranger over on our tow-trailer, and ask someone to do it for me, I have never done it before (no idea how), and have someone install it for me.

The guys at autozone won't do it for you. You will have to take it to a local mechanic, definately don't take it to a Dobb's (or similar chain). Every time I have they charge a bunch then tell you that there is about $2000 worth of stuff wrong with your truck. But thats just my experience anyway.

By the way, if you want to save some money on labor, you can YouTube how to make your own brake line and it shows you how. I had never done it before either but I was able to do it. The only thing that can be difficult is double flairing the ends of the brake line (youtube "double flair brake line" if you don't know what I am talking about). But they sell line that already has the double flaired ends at AutoZone, so all you have to do is bend it to fit your truck.

Got a lot of work ahead of me, it has 433,136 miles on it, and it needs a new frame, engine rebuilt, and the bed junked. Dunno how soon it will be till I start, might help if someone could lend a hand with an engine hoist.

Somebody drove that for a long long long time....Who was the original owner.....'Tightwad Magillicutty'?? lol That is going to be some long term project. Do you think it might be better to find one that is in better shape and only needs a few cheap things done to it? There are a lot of nice used older Ranger out here that go for pretty cheap.

Nope, mine needs work, but I am more than willing to do it. Its a classic, plus, its rare to find a truck with that many miles on the road nowadays!

Bumpers look just like the ones off of my old 86 B2000, you sure someone didn't put that trim on it aftermarket. Looks like what you find on the old F-150's? Just asking. I love the old 80's 4x4, may still the look for my Bronco 2.

So what your saying is you bought a good cab with a transmission and axles. LOL Seriously its nice. I think the 4x4 sticker was a dealer option and the trim around the rocker panels was definitely an 80's dealer add on. Kinda liek the stuff they tried doing to mustangs. Get the vin and run it online. there are a few vinreaders available on google.

Did that, no crashes, no bad things, just a neglected truck =P

Here's what I got:

The first owner was the father of the guy who sold it to us. It was purchased back in very early 1984 at a local Ford dealer, and had the "Chrome Package", (trim and bumper), and had the equivalent of todays luxary "add-ons" on more sedans. It was used for nearly 15 years as a family truck (on road), and was then used as a farm truck after it had been replaced by a newer vehicle. It sat outside for (+ or -) 4 years, untouched (had grass growing INSIDE it), because it had compression issues, and generally became useless as a truck. The can in the engine (vaccum can) is original, and it has a 4-speed automatic transmission. All of it is stock, except the rear bumper (homemade) step that was welded on, the back suspension, and the new rims for 3 of the wheels. I am wondering why it has a 4-speed automatic tranny when it was stock in 1984, but its cool still =).

Thats almost the same story on my truck. I am the 3rd owner, it was a farm truck with the special decals. Only it had 80,000 miles on it when I bought it for $600, but still just as rusty. It has been a good truck. I wish I was closer, I would definately help out to get the old beast back on the road.

Maybe next summer you can plan on comin out with yours! I am planning a lot for that summer (before I hit college). So plan on man! I want to make sure its ready to hit the road high speed!
