Here's my truck

knowing you kip, you better practice lol ;missingteeth;

just found this thread.that truck reminds me of the 44 bogger equiped (ranger on the beach)when i first bought it-except yours is a little prettyer.they all have a ton of potential if you arent afraid to try things-learning to do a double flare on a brake line is an excellent start!btw-bad news on that 2wd frame-on the rangers they use a different front crossmember from the 4x4,so your front suspension won't fit.save your pennies for a harbour freight welder and you can graft the rear from the donor onto the front of yours, and i promise the welder won't go to waste after that.

Would be easier and safer to just swap the 4x4 crossmember to the 4x2 frame. Good luck with the build!! Good to see yougsters putting pride in rebuilding there old rides rather than just buying some new clunker jap junk that will be junk in 10 years. Also good to hear that this is a Father/Son project!! Treasure the time together, you will remember it for the rest of your life. Again..good luck and look forward to seing you get her up and going.

Alright, I guess I am not up at the fire department this weekend due to dad being sick, and I am not learning the grinder most likely for the same reason. ALSO! I am gonna go out and buy a drill-wirebrush thats a good size. Have $12 on me I think.

Just gotta finish up my room. If dad leaves on Monday for work, I will take off Tuesday at school, and work on the ranger with Jason. (removing panels and cleaning them completely, then painting them using a cheap black glossy anti-rust paint from Dollar General).

Lets see, at $3.50 a can of paint, I will need about 3/4 a can per panel at worst. So lets say its about 5 cans? so around $17.50 + Tax, and with the wire brush (being about $8), I will be spending around $25 to $30 on just supplies. I have 2 drills, gonna use the wired one, a lot more powerful.

But this is ONLY if Jason is able to come over on Tuesday. If not? I will not do it.

do it....you've got lot's of fingers-can afford to lose one or two..

the old 83 diesel my grandma had had that exact trim pieces along the lower body. and the chrome package with those mirrors. hers had the rims the white one has.
had running boards, amber fogs and a truck like bug shield.

damn i miss that truck

As far as an engine hoist goes the easist thing I can think of is if you know somebody with a tow truck, you could use the winch on the tow truck to safely hoist the engine out. Just my .02.:D

unfortunately I do not know anyone with a winch or tow truck. I do believe I have a geared pully though, I can throw it over one of our Maple trees in our front yard (like 200 years old each, HUGE), but its about 40 yards from the barn, and uphill.

Hey adsm08, you got a winch?

It was just a thought, thats what I get for doing part time work for a wrecker service.:icon_thumby::D

Movin my work station here I guess, here is the CD player I am building, it has a pullout tray that has the controls move with it. It can get radio stations too, took me about 20 minutes to make so far. Just bored on my bed, so I started building =).

(sorry for the bad images, my camera is from 2002, it has 1.3 megapixels, its an old Vivicam).

Right now the tackyglue is drying, and once its done I will check any parts for errors, since tackyglue will hold but is removable easily, I used it. I can see it all together, but remove parts very easily. Next step is super glue, and a few screws.

That wont pass PA state inspection though, needs to be 100% solid, and straight, and I am not a fan of illegal inspections.

ran some tests and it works, gonna superglue it tomorrow.

Next item on list: Clean panels, and see about getting some very cheap fender cutouts from either a ranger or Bronco II, any year will do, just need to cut-and weld, mine are rusted badly.

scratch tuesday for truck work, gonna be on thursday at around 2:00 or 3:00pm, anyone wanna help out? locals? I am in Wellsboro PA, 16901

still up for thursday I guess, although I am most likely gonna sell the damned truck for $500 to that one guy and get a JY exploder for $450 from OverCosty's (Costy's JY is a ripoff), might also try Covington Salvage, and there is one heading towards Blossburg too, never been there.

Uhm.... anywho, if I get this job at BILO (gonna be TOPS here soon), I will be working during the week full time, and part time on Fridays and Saturdays, and saving my paychecks up for an exploder.

Lets see, to keep me from selling the danger ranger, I will need a freebie donar truck since dad does not want me spending $0.01 on that truck, becuase with 1.5k in it and it does not run or have brakes, its not really worth it. ACTUALLY, anyone wanna trade a junked exploder for a ranger??? perferably a 1991+ with a manual tranny, and running condition?

Will take any running 2.8L too... if I get just that, my dad will work on it with me, he said that if it were JUST the frame that was bad, or JUST the engine that was bad, he would help me, but BOTH are bad.
