Here's my truck

It seems they had some odd trim packages in 84...my 84 came with an "Explorer" trim package, turd brown truck, orange stripes along the side with the words "EXPLORER" meshed in with the striping with those chrome hooks along the side of the bed like dhinch279's truck has... It is now camo and has a flatbed, lol

Haha, yeah, dad and I are gonna keep the trim and paint job, but we are gonna have to repaint the truck still, so its not gonna be a decal, it'll be a painjob.

Uhm, any ideas on the Gas Mileage these 84's get?

not good. I'd say that mine gets about 16 miles to the gallon on a good day. But it's an old farm truck and was somewhat neglected for many years. I give it a tune up once a year, and it will maybe(and thats a big maybe) gets around 20-21 mpg after that.

Cool, and yeah, was suspecting it'd be pretty bad, rebuilding it from the ground up.

Right now i got my eye on that yeller truck for sale in Ohio for $1,000, I wanna see about making a deal for it. (need a truck for the mean time).

I made up a list of stuff I need to do to my ranger, and right now I want to know if anyone has a tailgate for my year, or similar. I will trade my tailgate for it! (has a screw on bed liner cover on it.

Also, gonna get a wirebrush for my grinder and clean her up, I am also gonna try to find a cheap grill to replace mine, its cracked.

Gonna charge the battery, run it for a little (let it get used to it, haha), run the fans to get the junk out of the system, and check fluids + spark plugs. Do tire pressure and whatnot also =P.

Gonna also put a gallon or two in her to let her run for a bit.

I could not get it started today, will work on it with Cody via webcam tomorrow. Hopefully get some results *munches on icecream* (yup, have some, and smothered in whipped cream and crushed peanuts).

Uhm, checking on prices for a rear sway bar, and a headlight =P.

Also need a new carb. filter.

Uhm.... the brake line is shot... yeah...., its ALL rust or rotted.

Here is my shifter handle (comes off easily), any suggestions?

Also, there are these bunch of wires under the dash, what are they by chance?

If you weren't so far away, I have a 2wd frame that you could just have. You would just have to swap out your 4wd stuff, and everything else of course. I would just keep a lookout for a truck like yours and swap the frames on them.

Single-cab long bed, I believe it's a 1985, but close enough. The cab, front clip, rearend and front end are all there, but I will probably sell that stuff

Can you save me the frame please?

Yeah, I can do that. I've had the truck for 3 years, I think I can keep it for a little while longer. I'm not sure of a cost effective way for you to get it.

removing the crud from the back of the ranger on Thursday, and thinking about working on the fenders when dad "teaches" me to use the grinder (used one before, at school, but he feels he should show me, which I can understand coming from him wanting to spend time with me). =P

Nothing wrong with him showing you! I would definitely show my son how to use one..sure its easy but, its good to know that he's doing it right!

Besides, accident happen, you know?

Good luck with the build:icon_thumby:
