Hi all,
I'm new to the Ranger world, but have my share of experience with other Fords and (shock, horror) other manufacturers too. I grew up with my father always having a Ford - I actually still remember walking in one night and he was crying because he had just bought himself a new car (which he was happy about even though it was a 0.7L Suzuki Alto) but it had just struck him that it was the first time in 35 years that he had not owned a Ford. He had owned a variety of other vehicles, but always at least one Ford in the garage or driveway.
My vehicle history is mixed - I had some cheap 4-banger Hyundais in my younger days, married into a turd of a Nissan Maxima, and then needed to increasingly upsize SUVs to carry the family - starting with a Ford Explorer, and progressing through a 99 Suburban, 00 Excursion 6.8L V10, 03 Excursion 7.3L V8 Diesel and my current 05 Excursion 6.0L V8 Diesel. Now life is turning full circle and I have a little 00 Ford Ranger 3.0L V6 to send my daughter off to college with - maybe soon I can switch from SUV to pickup and get one of those nice 6.7L Scorpion motors. My two older boys have inherited (or been cursed with) my love of messing with vehicles so they have between them a 00 F250, 00 C5 Corvette and a 93 Miata that is about to get an engine swap and jump from a 1.6L to a 2.4L (yikes). My youngest (yes I have been cough cough blessed with 4 children) is on his way to PermitLand and I'm sure he has some big vehicle dreams too.
I know how to work on cars, and I have the help of 20-somethings and teenagers where my old body can't go, so I'm always down to do what is needed on my vehicles - I just don't know the specifics and the tricks when it comes to Rangers. So that's why I'm on this forum to learn from all of you folks, and I'm more than happy to trade my knowledge of other vehicles for your knowledge of Rangers.
