new to the forum, but far from new to wrenching. my dad bought a 06 ranger stx manual as the s10 was too rough for him as it as slammed. he never wanted to buy another ranger, but it employs three things he likes, v6, manual, and a similar 3.0 vulcan he loved in his taurus. but now, he isnt liking it. he wants better gas mileage and well that will probably mean more power which is never a bad thing. he also hates the suspension as he says it rides like a lincoln. oh, and he hates how high it sits especially being 2wd. so since i have finally finished painting his focus, and the never ending crap that seemed to keep popping up after fixing one thing, i have the truck now. im trying to figure out how to better it and im looking into modest things including some exhaust work, intake, maf mod, engine/trans mounts (one of them has to be broken cause it slams), and look into dropping in a little.

now like i said, i have a lot of experience. i have pictures of about anything ive done. turbo eclipse rebuild/standalone, focus s2 salvage rebuild, about anything you can think of with a saturn (rebuilds, trans, turbo, tuning, swaps, everything!), bluebird sr20det swapped 200sx, and some various other minor projects on friends integra gsr, sentra, audi a4 turbo, genesis coupe 3.8 track and more. plus, i have my track/drift bmw im working on. been on a financial stand still on the bmw as the economy/job diminished and i have to build an engine for my daily driver saturn.

me in a nutshell, im a test driver. i repair cars on the side for extra money, and build cars for fun. thats about it

damn you have come to the right place and i am sure that everyone here would love to see some of those pictures you mentioned. as for you ranger, plenty of information on this site to dig thru. our tech library has a ton of information in it, so i would start there. i understand your dads complaint about the 3.0 not getting great mileage and having mediocre power, but they sure do last. mine has 223000 mile on it and only sufferend a blown head gasket about 15000 miles ago. very dependable motor. have fun and enjoy all that is TRS!!!
