hey guys, my truck had a jvc head unit in it, and it worked great, well all of the sudden i doesnt. no sound coming out of the deck, and no blown fuses, but the head unit works. So i figure what the heck, and i suck it up and buy a nice panasonic for $120 which is sat. radioi ready, and all the goodies. I install it all and drive to school today with it working perfectly. on the way home, i honk the horn at one of my friends, and all of the suden same problem, hea dunit works, but no blown fuses, and no sound. im almost 99.9% sure on my wiring, because i went back and double checked it all last nite. any ideas??? i need music!! hanks alot guys, and sorry for it being so long.

any ideas guys? i think its gotta be a short in the horn tied into the fuse board? idk help lol

Did you pull the fuse on the back of the radio to check it? A direct short in the horn CIRCUIT will blow that fuse, but may not interfere with lighting of the faceplate (depending on circuits in the truck and radio).
If you didn't replace any fuses when you replaced the radio, whatever blew left with the old radio. Disconnect the radio and check the wiring associated with the circuit that the horn is on.

nobody put jumpers on your fuse box did they? or tied the radio accessorie power wire into the horn fuse?

no, theyres no jumpers, and its driving me crazy

Do you have aftermarket speakers or just stock ones?

this happened to me kindof. i put in a deck and it worked great except for every now and then it would just cut out. no sound at all. the problem was that the deck i got had been dropped and the metal casing had been dented. the circuit board would intermittantly touch the board and ground out. it did not appear to affect any other function of the deck. it only silenced it. i fixed it by taking the deck apart and pushing out the dent.

i dont know if this will help you but it sounds somethink like your situation.

well guys, its official im a dumbass as my dad put it, i had screwed around with one of my rear aftermarket alpine speakers, and had remounted it, every no wand agian when id hit a bump, the contact would ground out. so it would kill the circuit in my radio. i remounted the speaker and it works perfect. thanks alot for the help lol
