i am replacing the stock am/fm cassette in my 97 explorer. i went to walmart and bought the adapter for a 97 explorer and it doesn't plug into my truck. the adapter i bought is scosche fdo21. any ideas?

does it have multiple connections on it? if so, you only use the two that work. dont need all of em.

i used the walmart scosche one for my 98 explorer, but i think they might be different

yes it does. thing is only 1 of the 4 connectors plug in. the side that powers it up plugs in but the side the speakers are wired into does not

I believe on mine it was the green plug for the speakers. It didn't look like the right plug. But with a little wiggling it snapped in and worked.

Don't forget to hook up the amp power wire or you wont have sound to your speakers. I fou d that out the hard way.

i don't have a factory amp
