I have a 92 2wd ranger with a 3.0 and auto tranny. It recently quit on me so i narrowed it down to a fuel problem so i replaced the fuel filter and the solenoid switch which has be faulty at times requiring me to jump it over to start the truck from time to time. when i did and turned the switch nothing happened. Then i tracked it down again and replaced the starter. Now only when i jump over the solenoid will it turn over but not run and the switch is on when i do this all the fuses in the box beside the solenoid switch are fine. What could it be the ignition switch on the steering column or another fuse under the dash????

did you get all the wires put on the solenoid ? are they in the correct position? it sounds like the small wire that goes on a post by itself is in the wrong spot

i followed the instructions on the paper included in the box. The old switch was a 3 post international brand. the new is a 4 post i got at NAPA. however ill try that and see what happens, also ive tried every possible combination of wires on the switch and this is the only way that the motor will turn over..thanks for your help

ya like baddis said I would check those wires and you might check your ground wire kind of sounds like your not grounded right.

if he can jump it it will not be a ground issue or it wouldn't turn over. i have a strong suspicion that a wire has been left off also or the fuel issue was not a filter but the pump itself.

ya your right I dont think I was reading it right I thought he wasnt getting anything possibly the ignition wire then huh
