Ok, so heres the deal. my bearings in my cam synchronizer assembly on my truck have been becoming more and more dry and squeaky with each passing week since the noise started last fall. Now that the problem is almost constant and so annoying i finaly decided to take my cheap ass to fordparts.com and order a genuine motorcraft part cause i dont like to dick around and buy cheap ignition components. When i went to pick up the part at the dealer where i had it delivered he said for an extra 75 bucks he could have it installed that evening and i could pick it up in the morning. I figured what the hell, saves me 6 hours and the possibility of screwing the installation up as i would have had to go it alone, and it would be well worth my while to just have them put it in for 75 bucks and make sure its done correctly....right?.....WRONG!!!!!
I got a call the next morning from the service manager saying "your truck's ready but i dont think it needed that thar part, cause this things got major issues it runs rough and hardly drives so i dont know whats wrong.". Naturally after reminding him the truck ran perfect except for a squeak coming form the dry bearings on "that thar part" when i brought it in, plus a few choice words thrown in, he offered for me to come drive it and see what i thought. So...where to start..... barely idles misses like its running on 2 cylinders shakes like a quarter bed at a cheap motel has no power and wont stay running in drive or reverse unless you give it a LOT of gas (1500 rpms.). So, heres my question, what did they do and what do they need to do to correct it. if i could get an installation procedure form start to finish that would be great cause i just might tow the truck home and do it myself if these dimwits dont get it right the second time.
Oh, and here was my exact words to the service manager as i walked out " If MY TRUCK ISNT RUNNING BETTER THAN IT WAS WHEN I CAME IN HERE WHEN I COME BACKHERE AGAIN THERES GONNA BE A NEW 4.0 ENGINE SHOWIN UP FROM FORD HERE WITH YOUR NAME ON THE BILL FOR 3 GRAND DICKWEED!!!!!!!Then i stormed out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jeremy
The above is the EXACT reason I started doing my own wrenching many years ago. Sure the guy at the dealership screwed up your ride. I've seen it happen many times in the past.
It's all about doing a one hour job in ten minutes and going to the next job. Making an 8 hour day pay for 24 hours of labor. I betcha they get it right for ya before it's all over.

They probably did that on purpose hoping you wouldn't notice and would pay them lots of money to fix a non-existent problem.
