Hey guys,
I'm having a problem with my truck starting involving some type of fuse. I have a 2005 Ranger 2wd 3.0 regular cab auto. When I go to start the truck sometimes it will not start. I then go to the passenger side fuse box inside the cab, in the fender well, and push this big black switch/fuse. After I push on that particular fuse/switch the truck starts, and doesn't cut off while driving. Its the 2nd big fuse/switch thingy from the bottom closest to the seat. (there are 4 of them in the fuse box). I came upon this while pushing on crap and it started up, lol. Does anyone know what is happening, and how to fix it?!?! If needed I will take a picture of the fuse/switch in question Thanks so much all!

did you pull it out and look for corrosion or signs of arcing kinna sounds like a bad connection

does the engine crank over and just not start or do you just get nothing sounds like a relay does it have two or multiple pins

I'm kind of scared to pull it out. I'm not even sure how it comes out. It's a black box looking thing with a gray piece that looks like it slides to lock the box in place. I don't want to break anything without knowing how it comes apart and goes back in.

Relays are pretty easy to work with, I had a problem with my ranger where one of the ignition relays would overheat so any time I shut my truck down it wouldn't start back up for about twenty minutes. It would crank and crank all day but if that relay was hot the PCM wouldn't get power, thus no spark, no fuel. Haven't had a problem since I replaced it.

sounds like a relay. Just doesn't look like one in the diagram.

photos? C2280c denotes a harness connector, you may have essentially a bunch of bad connections if this thing is not locking in right.
