so my buddys alternator on his 2000 exploder. i have a new alternator off my 93. will they bolt up? i need urgent help before i make the hour drive to my dads

are you sure it is the alternator check and clean the connectors and all the grounds.

hmmmmm i guess ill go try it anyway. i got nothing im doing

if it has the same mount and spacing and connector the only difference would be the battery amps or cranking amps

You can take it to a place like Autozone and have it tested, I would assume you can also just start the truck and see if you're pulling 14 volts from it with a multimeter.

Anyway, there's a possibility that it could bolt up. According to the tech section a 130 amp alternator from an explorer and a Ranger can swap, even though the 130 amp is a little bigger. the 2000 model year isn't listed, but there's only one way to know for sure.

I wouldn`t force it how did you determine the alternator is bad

I would say that the noise and the lack of charging pretty much seals it.

sounds like its time for an alternator.

pretty much

the plugs are diffrent and he doesnt want to splice into his wireing harness
