I just recently bought a new LED 3rd brake light. :headbang: It has cargo lights, which my truck never came with originally, so I have to wire them in myself. I'm gonna try to hook them up to the factory dome light switch, but I don't know if the switch/wiring can handle the extra load. The cargo lights pull about 36 mA of current.

I have a relay to use, but the coil resistance is about 320 ohms at 12V, so that means the relay would pull 36 mA anyway (right?) so I might as well just hook the lights up directly to the switch without it.

I don't think that low of amp draw will hurt the switch (could be wrong though).

The wiring I'm not sure of. Are you just going to add on at the switch, or splice in on the out going wire from the switch?

I was gonna splice the outgoing wire, so that as current leaves the switch, it splits into 2 seperate wires-- 1 going to the dome light, 1 going to the cargo lights.
