I am trying to use the C124 connector (that supplied most of the electrical connections to the 2.3 motor ) to integrate the 5.0 harness into the ranger system. I am trying to use the electrical supply to the fuel pump etc that was alread in the ranger. I changed pumps to a higher out put pump. I have a C4 tranny and have the speed sensor hooked up but do I need any other transmission control stuff hooked up to the computer? Any suggestions would be help ful. I have about 2 years into the project. Thanks

The computer controls nothing for the trans.
I used the the existing wiring in C124-to-trans plug to trans harness for the VSS and reverse lights, discarded the O2 (Ranger) wires.

You're using a Mustang harness? I wired the fuel pump signal from ECU (pin 22 on Mustang, color may vary by year) to the ranger plug, pin 5 (I believe that was fuel pump monitor input, to the inertia switch). That's all it needed, as you said, the fuel pump/relay/inertia switch are already done in the Ranger.
Mine worked perfect the first time I turned the key.

I recomment buying the HARWOOD swap manual for your truck ($25). It helps a lot, but is based 100% on the '93 Mustang/Ford Motorsport harness. S o some changes to the wiring are necessary with different year harness'.
Also, www.fordfuelinjection.com has a diagram for everything engine-related that you will need.

Thank you ! I think, on mine the fuel pump control is pin 15 on connector C124. This wiring stuff scares the dickens out of me. Thank you for the tip on the book.:icon_cheers:

Thank you ! I think, on mine the fuel pump control is pin 15 on connector C124 and pin 19 on mustang computer. This wiring stuff scares the dickens out of me. Thank you for the tip on the book.:icon_cheers:

Pin 19 (Mustang)is for the fuel pressure monitor signal. This is sig being returned to the ECM.
Pin 22 (Mustang)is signal from the ECU to to Fuel pressure relay.

Pin 15 from the ranger plug is basically a power source, I ran that to my Mustang O2 harness. (one of the wires from the "green" Mustang connector)

So, I went from Ranger C124 pin 5 to to Mustang ECU pin 22.
Ranger C125 pin 15 went for O2 power.
And my Mustang Harness has no FPM, so there was no pin 19 available or used.

Hope that helps. Mine is also a '97, BTW

I am using the ford motor sport harness. Pin 22 is a green (sort of teal color) with orange stripe. Pin 5 on connector 124 is green with yellow stripe color, fairly heavy wire.

Are you needing to know what the wires in C124 do?

Trying to insure I connect pin 5 wire C124 to correct ECU pin 22 wire so checking to see if the wires color codes is correct! Thanks for the interest. Order the Haywood manual but it didn't down load so trying to make a little progress until I can get the manual!

.

Are you using a Mustang EEC?

C124 connector-----EEC

Pin 5, DG/Y---------Pin 19 fuel pump monitor
Pin 15, LB/O--------Pin 22 fuel pump relay control

Pin 22 of the EEC will control the fuel pump relay, which is pin 15 in C124.

Pin 19 of the EEC will sense when voltage is going to the fuel pump, which is pin 5 in C124.

I'm just posting what worked for me, it is in a running truck now. Based on Harwood info, and hours (months...) of reasearch.
There are many ways it can be done, I suppose.
But my pump does cycle on briefly when the key is turned, just like stock.

If you're in doubt about the correct wires from the Mustang harness, it's easy to check continuity with a meter. I did this on every circuit, before I cut the Mustang plugs, after I cut them, and then when the wiring was done. Checked it all from the Ranger harness plug to the 60 pin ECU connector.

Best of luck, I really enjoyed the wiring part.
