I'm thinking about buying some Cragar Soft 8's 15x8's and im wondering if they would work because they have a 4 inch backspacing and recommended is 3.75. I have no lift just a leveling kit on my 97 ranger. If any of you have done this please post a picture. I have no idea what im doing here so any help would be awesome. Also the wheel offset on the Cragar's is -13 if that helps anyone.

For safety's sake with out a suspension lift I would check with a local wheel/tire shop and make sure. You could be hitting some suspension componants and you don't want to wind up paying more in the long run for a set of wheels.

I found some soft 8s that had 3.75 bs. Look on 4wd.com. That is probably what I am going to get once I get new wheels.

What if i were to put a 1/4 inch spacer behind the wheel? Would that make the backspacing 3.75?

The wheel would stick out as far as a wheel with 3.75" BS (it would also stick in as far).

I have a '90 Ranger (Dana 35) and have 17x8" wheels with 4" backspacing. The tires never hit on the inside of the radius arms or inner fender well or sway bar. I think you'd be fine with 4" backspacing.

How far do your wheels stick out of your wheel well when you just have 4 inch backspacing with 8 inch wide wheels? Also how wide are your tires? I want mine to stick out a little further than the weel well to get that beefy look.

I've had cragar 342s on my truck for like 2 years now, they are 16x7 with 4 inch bs and they never hit anything, even with my fabtech spindle lift

Here's an older picture of my Ranger with the 17x8" wheels (sorry, I don't have a straight on shot so you can see how far they stick out):

I have 255/75R17 tires on there. You can see, they don't stick out real far and would probably stick out less on a '97.

Thank you so much. Ill probably get spacers so they stay centered. Im getting 31x10.5 tires so they will be a little wider with that too.

Mine. 2003, leveled (1.5" in front), 15x8, 4" bs, 235/75 yokohama's.

Sweet truck! I like the look of the white withblack wheels. I have a leveled 97 thats red. Im getting the soft 8's and putting a spacer behind them so they stay centered and stick out a little further too.

I have 4" backspace wheels on my truck with 31's and it doesn't rub on any suspension stuff.
