About 4 years ago I put Rancho RS5000 shocks on my Ranger. It is stock height with 30x9.5 tires. I'm now considering lifting it (possibly 4") since I have another daily driver. Would my Rancho shocks be ok with a lift since they are not the original shocks? Or would I have to buy new shocks with a lift kit because of the length difference. In most kits, they come separate. Thanks.

yeah you could put them on there, but they'll limit your downward wheel travel and maybe give you a bumpy ride. if you were lifting 1 to 2 inches, it would probably be ok, but i would buy new ones for a 4 inch.

i bet you could sell the RS5000's to someone on here and at least offset the price of new shocks a little bit.

if you wanna keep the shocks, just get a 2 or 3 inch body lift and you can keep your 5000's and still fit 33's on your truck

Ok Thanks. That's something to think about. Today I got a quote of $700 to install a 4" suspension lift. It seemed high, is this the going rate? Do you think install would be much cheaper if I went with a body lift?

where are ya located?

lots of guys g2g on here and help each other install lifts ( usually for just refreshments and fun ) whether a Body lift or susp.

really no need to pay a shop to do it....other than an aglignment if ya get a suspension lift...

l8r, John

i wouldnt pay $700 for a shop to put on a susp. lift. take that $700 and go buy a nice air compressor, a few air tools (impact wrench, grinder, maybe a sander) after that you'll still have $300 or $400 to spend on any other tools you need and money to pay for an alignment. plus, you'll have a better understanding of how your suspension works. and if you have questions, someone on here has always done whatever you're tryin to do
