Hi,I just bought a 1996 Ford Ranger 4liter 4wd.
The paint over the entire truck looks great with the exception of the hood.
It appears as though there is some oxidation (I think)and is dull looking compared to the rest of the truck. I would like for it to look as good as the rest of the truck.
I have included some not so good pics I took with my phone that shows the issue i am talking about. the shiny places in the dull place is where I spit on my finger and rubbed it a little.
I described this to a sales man at Oreillys and he recomended a product called
TR3 Resin glaze to remedy this. Is this a good product or do I need to use something else to make this hood look good ?
Thanks
Craig

Looking at you pictures, are those white spots bird crap or is that primer showing? If the latter, you may be looking at a re-paint. I can't speak to the product you mentioned (never used/heard of it) but, I'd start with a very light abrasive rubbing compound on a small spot to see if that brings the paint back and go from there. The important thing to note is not starting with a very aggressive compound on a buffer and burn through the original paint.

re

No that is not bird crap nor is it primer,as I said I am relatively sure it is oxidation,I have done some more research and found that the tr3 is an old time product that is supposed to be pretty good, also by and large gets great reviews at Amazon.
Seeing how noone has any experience with this product I guess I can be the FIRST to use it !

If those white spots are oxidation you might not be able to get those out, but you'll probably have good luck with the rest of it. Good luck!
