help with hp g61 laptop

My hp g61 just did this to me about 5 minutes ago... It was eorking just fine, and randomly turned off and wont turn back on... The caps lock light is on, the power button/light is on, the wifi light is on (orange showing disabled connection) the trackpad light is on (showing orange for disabled) and the power light on the front edge is on, however the power and hdd lights next to it are both dark. The white light next to the power cord is on only when the power cord is plugged in...

I was using my laptop on my lap, it was not running hot or anything, and just all of a sudden turned off with no warnings, no clicks nothing just like someone unplugged the battery and a/c cord...

Any help as to what this might be would be helpful!

Try re-seating the battery. You may have accidentally disengaged the lock and allowed it to wiggle loose just the smallest amount.

I've done that a time or two with my Dell Latitudes.

tried that, but even if that was the case, if it's plugged in, it should still turn on...
