is there some magic trick to changing the fuel filter? I've got the tool to disengage the line from the fiter but there is not enough space between the line and the filter to get in. any suggestions? am i doing something wrong?

your truck may not require the tool. you should either be able to push on the plastic "U" clips or unclip them and remove them from the lines entirely, depending on what design is under there (admittedly, its been a while since ive been under a newer truck).

On the side with one line there is a clip that comes up.. the side where the two lines are you simply press down on them. Haha I nearly went crazy trying to get the other clips to come up. I remember them being a pain in the ass before until i figured they went down but remembered again when I changed my filter a few weeks ago.

huh

that's just it i didn't see any clips i can remove only one of the hoses on the side where there are 2. otherwise there's not enough space. don't know what to do.

help!!!!!

just double checked there are no clips. i bought a tool to disengage the fuel line from the filter. problems is there is not enough space between the line and the filter to use the tool. what am i doing wrong?

Okay the side with 2 lines there is a orange and green clip i think.. those are the ones you push down on .. there is no space to lift then up.. the side with the single (should be closer to the front) it is a white/clear plastic clip that goes up. try where the main 2 lines are to press the "clips" down and pull the line off.. it should work..

I had a problem like this trying to get the fuel pump off of an f-250, if the tool is the a/c tool I ended up taking a file to it to make it fit. worked good.

I would say take a picture if you can ? There shouldn't be any tool required as far as I know.. What year is your truck ? Mine is 2001 so maybe they have diff connectors ?

newer model vehicles have the stupid a/c quick disconnect fittings on them, why they changed to that instead of keeping the plastic clips like mine i have no idea, prob some evaporative emissions bs. ive done one b4 but it was a long time ago, needless to say there were a lot of 4 letter words going in the process and had to change my shirt as always as it got soaked w/ gas.

got it finally

understand what everyone means now. pressed down on the release thing and got the hoses off and the filter changed. glad this is only a once a year thing.
