I have a 79 Ford Ranger 4 wheel drive with a 351M in it...it has a C-6 transmission. I want to take the 351M out and put in a 302. Could the C-6 transmission bolt to the 302 or do I need to get a C-4 transmission. And is there anything else I should know before I get started?

well for starters in '79 the "ranger" was a trim package, it became a compact truck in '82 as far as the trans bolting up, im not sure but have heard that the 351m was basically the same as a 400 as far as the block was concerned and that would be a big-block bolt pattern on the bellhousing, they did make a C6 for the 302, or maybe there is a adaptor available. personally id go for the 300 inline 6 and the creeper-1st 4 speed, or even better a nv 4500, creeper 1st and a overdrive. little pricey though. on edit: i sent you a p.m.
