My 05 B4000 4x4 extended cab needs 2 cross members to pass provincial Motor Vehicle Inspection. From what I've discovered so far in my research, they are not available new, and have to be built by a fabricator or purchased used from a salvage yard. Also, any auto body shop in my area won't, or can't make them because of it's age. Anything from a salvage yard would mean they would be rusted and corroded and I don't think they would last very long. And that's if you could find them in a salvage yard. Are Ranger frames the same as a B4000? Does anyone know of an after market supplier that might have them available in Canada ? I need the cross member that goes between the frame rails and over the fuel tank and the one directly in front of the tank between the frame rails.

Not sure where you are in Canada, but I put your truck in www.car-part.com and put in I was looking for a frame, and it did interchange and list rangers also.

Thanks for this franklin2. The nearest complete frame available from this info you provided is a little more than 200 miles from me. I'll call them tomorrow and ask if they will part with the cross members I need and ship here. It's a start !

Ragnar I was talking to a friend a few weeks ago. Someone made him those bracket here in town. I'll see if I can get a hold of him this weekend and find out who made them

Vindictus, Thank you! i see your profile says New Brunswick. What city are you in? I really appreciate your reply. I've searched most auto body shops here in Fredericton and only one says they can and do build them, but they are booked solid for a month or more. My truck is my daily driver and the inspection just ran out. So, a month is going to be hard to do unless i can find someone soon. Thanks again and hope to here from you again soon !

Which ones do you need?

Because cross members are not available and they would be rusted to badly if purchased at a salvage yard, they had to be rebuilt. The welder/fabricator I took the truck too finally got my truck done. He rebuilt the crossmember that goes over the fuel tank, replaced the gas tank straps, rebuilt the cross member that is just in front of the fuel tank, rewelded a rear spring shackle he found that was broken away from the frame when he took the box off. He also repaired a hole in the front right corner of the box floor and re-enforced a box support that was rusted while he had the box off. I had to wait for a week to get in, because he was very busy. It took him about 20 hours of labor and welding. After all that welding and fabricating ,he undercoated the whole box and frame. It was a big expense,( about 2500.00 Canadian) taxes in, but I am very happy with his work and I'm happy to have my truck in a condition where I don't have to worry about the frame again. At least for a few more years. I wish that I had asked him for photos, to post on here, but I forgot. I did inspect the job when it was up on the hoist and it looks good to me.
