Ok, I don't always agree with some of the politics. Don't always disagree either. It's not about politics. Who here didn't watch Sesame Street when we were kids? How 'bout Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood? I'm pretty sure we ever have a few guys here (even if they wouldn't admit it) who watched Barney.

The Fed is about to drop the axe on Public Broadcasting, help save them.

I watched those shows (except Barney, that was after my time). I generally liked the Nova programming.

you honestly think big bird needs money?

have you ever been to a store that deals with anything to do with children?

care to peruse through all the toys past of my 5 kids???

dont take me wrong, its my favorite left news source...and i have donated during the public spring and fall fundraising.

but really....they can get fawked after that shit with juan.

I like programs on PBS but less than 10 percent of funding comes from the Federal government. They won't be hurt by it and I don't support tax payers money funding bias media on either side. NPR blew it.

The US Government has no business funding a radio/tv network that makes millions from the sale of toys.

The fact that it is biased far to the left in most of it's political content is a separate issue.

Let them sink or swim just like every other privately funded broadcast company.

They make hundreds of millions without OUR money. How you look how the head NPR makes and tell me if they need our money

NPR does NOT need my $! Let them sink or swim without mine!

When the Govt funds something that gives them the right to say what is broadcast...or not broadcast.

I sense a consensus forming here.:)

Personally, I don’t watch anything on PBS anymore (or much TV for that matter) so it bugs me that money is being spent there. I’m more of a "Pay for what you use" kind of guy. Now if Red/Green came back, that might be another story :D

For the NPR, again I don’t listen to it due to their ‘slant’ on things (to be fair, I don't listen to much talk radio). But ignoring whatever bias may or may not be there, I don’t see a reason for it to exist. Certainly not the "talk show" type programs that they often air.

Either way, if neither can survive without public funding, they should go ahead and sink. If you want them around, feel free to donate/pay for the services they provide. Otherwise, please stay out of my wallet.

not only no, but hell no!

they can engage in "political speech" OR they can get government subsidies, not both.

my thought is that private sources will fund them.

if you can swallow their political cum along with their "good" send them a check, but not with my tax dollars.

as for cutting them off? took long enough...

let George Soros fund them

We should not be funding public TV or the communists at NPR................the creators of Barney made billions while we funded it......screw that

Neither my brother nor my sister-in-law would let any of their children watch
"Barney" or similar... Veggie tales were OK, but liberal/Vegetarian indoctrination was not.

MY Brother's proudest moment was when my Mother took my 2yo (at the time, she has a driver's license now) Neice to the local petting zoo and in her little voise pointed to a Wild Turkey and asked "Isht Da?" (Translated: What is that?) and my mother told her "That's a Turkey", She looked thoughtful for a second and asked "Nummy Num?" (Translated: "Edible?") grandmas said "Yes", my Neice then announced she was hungry, she wasnted a turkey sandwich....

It seems that my Neice has the same view of animals that I and my brother ( and my sister-in-law) share.. we look at an animal and we start dividing it up into roasts, steaks, ground meat...

I hoope my neice appreciates the thought that went into her birthday present.... a Remington 700 mountain rifle in 7mm-08Rem.

DO NOT get me started on the hidden agenda behind the intentional anthrophomorphization of animals (giving animals the human characteristics of Rational thought and emotions) ... Oops... too late!

Don't get me wrong... I love animals... they're DELICIOUS!
