This thing is super clean, frame is great .Only a little surface rust back near the leaf springs. Keep in mind im in cleveland and every single one of these is usually rotted back there.

List price at the dealer is $6000. I said its too high and he said he would do 6k out the door. I still think it's too high for an 02 but it is in very good condition.

Let me know what you think. Thank you

Complain about how chewed up the rims are if you wanna try and get the price down. I dont think 6 is a bad price though. Rangers hold good value.

I dont think 6k out the door is out of line for a clean truck. Regardless of year.

Nope. Not at all. The price is going to be a little different depending on geographic location. Also the book price is going to be a little higher for dealers.

i guess i can comment since that is an exact replica of my truck minus the step bars and cap.
check carefully the underside of all the doors for rust. it is prone to rust in those areas. otherwise the usual,
check all hvac settings, brakes incl emergency brake and trans/4x4 operation.
if you want to try to beat the price down a little you can mention the cologne 4.0 engine is prone to timing
chain guide rattle/failure etc, but might be the dealer could care less about that.
mileage is good so it might be worth the risk.
overall from the limited pics it looks like a good example. the cap and bars make it worth a tad more...
try to get them to replace ALL the fluids incl transfer case and diffs before delivery.

i'm happy with mine sofar so good luck!

Is this rust where the red circle is.

The wheel condition would be my main concern, The rust can be taken care of, but still an issue for negotiating $$$

I live in Ohio and I think 6k is way too high for an 02. I agree with what the other guy said about the timing chain as well. You know the dealer only gave whoever traded it in 1000-1500 for it bc its a dealer. you can buy that exact same truck with similar miles on craigslist for way less. I don't know if you are specific about 4wd or not. Here are some craigslist links to what I found in literally just a few minutes.

Wheels are FAR cheaper to fix than rust.

If that is rust on the fender then he isn't going to budge, he knew it was there when he priced it.

Those are all 2wd 4 cylinder trucks. 4.0 4x4 trucks sell for substantially more. The cap is also worth quite a bit. Not saying you cant find cheaper trucks, just not easily with those specs. Plus rangers are solid sellers, a dealer has no reason to haggle when they know someone will buy it for asking price.

I agree but fender rust aint gonna cause your tires to leak down at night and cause you to have to change a tire before work in the morning. Rust is an easy fix if you know how and what your doing, at least down here in Fl. On second thought, we get a lot of surface rust, I didn't take into consideration that your environment feeds on steel with all the salt and whatever else they do to your roads up there. If only the OP put his location in his info, instead of his ZIP code, i'm not dong homework to find out his location.

i agree, what kind of monster expects people to type 5 numbers into a google search bar or click the provided link with the dealers address on it!

A different wheel is worth like two cans of spray paint from a JY.

My whole set was $75 at a swap meet, I have had them 10 years with no complaints. I have seen several nice teardrop sets on FB marketplace for under $100.
