Help purchasing, what do you guys think about this ranger?

A different wheel is worth like two cans of spray paint from a JY.

My whole set was $75 at a swap meet, I have had them 10 years with no complaints.

thats not really the point since the idea here is to talk the dealer down in price. Corroded rims, no matter how cheap you can replace them are an opening to negotiation.

Who cares about the wheels if the bed has cancer? The guy thinks it is mint and wants top dollar so he probably won't come down enough to make up for the bed.

At anywhere close to that price and mileage if the bed has cancer I would walk, who cares about the wheels at that point. I have an '02 F-150, once the bed started to rust you can about see a progression day to day... it goes fast.

Ok then if you want to price out 4wd 4.0 rangers then here you go. I found some more for less money and similar condition, yes one is a 3.0 but it is really nice. ANd I believe the OP said he was near Cleveland.

Thanks for all the input. Im having the truck inspected today and ill let you know how it goes. If any rust has taken hold anywhere im walking. My current ranger has plates welded to the frame where the shackles rusted off. Never dealing with that again.

Thanks so much for the reply. I actually went the see the 2000, there were holes rusted through the frame under the shackles. Heres how he responded LOL

Sounds about right. They think that as long as the body isn't that rusty compared to other trucks of that similar era then it is "rust free" and they can jack up the price. Yes no rust on the body is a great find in Ohio for a 19-20 year old truck but we all know these old rangers are notorious for the back half of the frame rusting away to swiss cheese. I wouldn't mind buying a rusty truck if it wasn't $6k. Good luck with your search. They are out there so just be patient. Don't jump the gun just because or you will regret it down the road.

Yep. Just be patient. I drove 7 hours away to buy the truck I was searching for. Sure am glad I did.

good you are getting it inspected. keep in mind there are literally 1000's and 1000's of used vehicles on the market so
don't be afraid to get tough with a dealer and be prepared to walk. you may be surprised at what kind of deal you
can get. cash talks.
unfortunately we both live in areas that rust is a constant problem that won't go away so aside from just not using a
vehicle in the winter there is not much you can do to escape it.

The 2006 looks rough and rusty, the 2001 has some real body damage... and the 2005 isn't worth scrap lol. If you ever see a plow on a truck just run!

Find a krown dealer. $150 a year for rust proofing. Stuff works amazing.

...the bed was rusted away behind the cab and it had a blown brake line w/brake light on. I didnt even bother taking it to my mechanic.:annoyed:

i agree, what kind of monster expects people to type 5 numbers into a google search bar or click the provided link with the dealers address on it!
I can sense the sarcasm in your statement...
A} I didn't know the ZIP code was an actual link,
B} Research is still work, not interested. He could have just put Cleveland or Ohio.
