302 in a 85 ranger , all stock except for new duel plain alum intake..new 1406 edelbrock carb... new hedman hedders.. engine run great before i changed from a 2bbl to the 4bbl intake carb setup..now its only running on 4cyl.) now seems to be running on #5-8-2-3 cyl. when i can get it to run.. not running on #1-4-6-7 cyl. checked firing order and that is good..checked dizzy with #1 piston up on compression. and rotor pointing at #1 on cap.. shows 0 on damper (TDC) ..i did pull all 8 plugs and all were wet with gas so i put new ones back in..why is the engine only running a 4cyl.. im dead in the water till i figure this one out..i mean all i did was pull the old cast iron intake and 2bbl carb off and put new 4bbl intake and new 4bbl carb on...lol...seems simple enough.. i checked and all plugs are firing

Have you checked to see if the new plug are wet with gas or oil?
What are the plugs gap?
Did you put a rag or something in the intake during installation and forget about it. I ask because cylinders 1-6-7-4 are fed from one side of the intake and 5-2-3-8 from the other on a duel plane intake.

Is there spark at the cylinders that are not firing?
Is there any vacuum at all?
How about compression on the cylinders that are not firing? (might indicate a big vacuum leak at the manifold)

I know you said the firing order is correct but worth checking again maybe - distributor is also rotates counter clockwise - (I had mine wrong, not trying to make you feel silly)!!!
Depending on the motor the firing order can be different.....http://www.302w.com/Firing-Order.aspx

plug gap is 44.. no rag in intake...all plugs are new but covered in gas...i checked all plugs and all fire.. the firing order is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8... i was told it could be a stuck valve...how do i check and how do i fix...the heads are stock and hasnt been that long since they were gone through...when i bought the engine it only had about 7000 miles on it and it ran pretty good till i put a 4bbl intake and carb...now i cant get it to run...

Check for vacuum leaks. How did you torque it down ? Did you continue to retorque it after the first go round ? I retorque til the gaskets settle.

it was infact a vac. leak...its fixed and it runs...lol..this fords gonna kill me...thanks guys for the advice and help
