I have an 86 Bronco II 2.9L V6 that is turning into my arch enemy very quickly. We got it for what I thought was going to be a steal under the impression and with all the symptoms it had believed that the clutch slave cylinder was its only demon. Slave cylinder, transmission and transfer case later thought we finally had it solved. Now I know she was going to need a tune up and that the head gasket is starting to go bad (no water in the oil). But today we took her out for awhile, short trips not more the 10 miles at a time and on our last stop she was fine when she stopped but when we went to leave she started fine, accelerated fine for about a 100 feet then started bucking and farting just like a true bronco would. There was no gas when I pressed on the pedal and she would idle fine and then stall out. Managed to nurse her about another 200 feet before she just finally up and quit. Now here is what we tested. The fuel pumps did not sound like they were kicking on but the fuel pump relay was not clicking when we turned the key. So we hard wired the pumps to on and they work fine (which can someone explain to me why my truck has 3, one in the tank and two on the rail). We jumped the inertia switch. She is also getting spark. I have had been suggested that it could also be the TPS or the ignition module and maybe IDK just asking does the fuel pump relay have to be hooked in and working for everything to operate normally. I hope this is enough info cause I really like her and would like to spare her the explosive end but well she is testing my patience and well I am married to an OIF vet so I have plenty of patience.... lol :icon_confused::icon_confused::annoyed::dunno:
