There are 6 vacuum pipes on top of the intake manifold on my 1988 2.3 liters. Two of them are used (one goes to the brake booster, and the second one... idk 😅), two more and closed, but there are two unused and I can't find what is supposed to be connected there (or if I just need to put a cap on it).

I could not find any info on the Clymer Super Shop Manual nor in the Haynes Repair Manual.
Any help would be much appreciated.

There might be a vacuum diagram on the radiator core support - that should give you some idea assuming the 2.3 is original to that truck.

Fuel pressure regulator needs vacuum
MAP sensor (on the firewall) may or may not need vacuum - mine does, I have seen other trucks where the port on the sensor is just open to the air though
Purge solenoids and air filter box on passenger wheel well may need vacuum if they are still present, if not then ignore
Air conditioning/vent flapper thing sometimes needs vacuum, if equipped with AC
EGR valve needs vacuum, I see that's unhooked in your picture

Regardless, those need to be capped off or connected to something for the truck to run properly. If you just cap them all off and it runs fine, call that good enough unless you have inspections or smog to pass.

I'm going to hook the EGR valve and check the MAP sensor too. Unfortunately, there are no diagrams anywhere on my engine bay, I guess those were removed by the previous owner.

Thanks a lot, Shran.

Not sure how much help this will be but I also have an '88 with a 2.3. Maybe it's the same as yours but it depends what emissions package your truck was built with.
