Gentlemen, I am in need of your assistance. I have chewed through 3 starters in the last year. I took it to my mechanic because I thought it was the flywheel, he checked everything out on the flywheel and clutch and said everything looked fine, no chewed up teeth on the flywheel. The starters have been burning out because to get the truck to start (especially on cold starts), you have to crank the motor and press on the accelerator and can take anywhere between 5 seconds to 1 minute of holding down on the ignition to start the engine. My mechanic tells me that there is a fuel issue and we replace the fuel pump and the assembly tower. Issue still has not gone away. I just did a tune up with plugs (Motorcraft), wires, Cleaned off the MAF Sensor, cleaned the throttle body. I just replaced the Idle air control valve in the hopes that might be it (it runs better just didn't fix the problem). I am at a total loss right now and I have definately put in more money over the past year and a half than what the truck is worth but it's paid off and runs great besides for the start up issue. So please if anyone has any ideas or knows any other tricks please let me know. Thanks!
