hey guys, i have a 91 ranger with 4.0l, and im doing the big 3, and i cant seem to find the wire from the alt. to the battery, all i can see is that there are 2 plugs and no seperate power wire, please help.

I have a 99 4.0 (weather they're the same, i don't know). The positive lead from the alternator should go to the power distribution block / engine bay fuse box. I does not connect directly to the battery, if I remember right. Anyone's welcome to correct me if I'm wrong. Can't really take a look at my 4.0 at the moment, don't want to wake everyone up with my uppity dogs.

I just had the replace the alt on mine. There it a big square lug down around the bottom rear the stator wire. That is where that big wire to the bat is. I had a heck of a time getting it replaced. I went to 3 stores and couldn't find one that matched. I finally got one for a 92 and had to make some connectors.
