picked up my first bronco 2 last night 89' 4x4 5spd. i got it for 1200, has a few odds and ends that need replaced. need help on a few of them.

1st, it needs the clutch line, that black plastic one, does that just push in?? how do i install it?

2nd, he busted the ears off the front axles where the U-joints meet the hub, when i take off the spindle, will the axles slide out or do i need to open the diff and remove C-clips or something??

and last, when i first start it up, it runs rough, when i hit the gas it cuts out and hesitates, but after its warmed up. it runs good. the motor has 3,000mi on it and it has a air/fuel ratio chip on it. what could be the problem?

thanks guys, im new to the scene, i will be asking TONS of questions (if i cant find them in the search). hope you guys dont mind.

1: The clutch line just pushes in to connect, to get the old one out (if you need too) push the white collar into the connection then pull the line out. It doesn't really make sense until you look at it.

2:The axles will just slide out of the center chunk. If you're gonna wheel it now would be a good time to swap in a 35!

3: Not too sure but it kinda sounds like a IAC - Idle Air Control. Its a metered air leak to control your Idle.

is a 35 a sas? what did they come in? how hard is the swap and what would be needed? woul i need a welder?? do thwy need to be cut down or are they the same length as the rear? thats where the problem begains, i need to invest in a welder.

The Dana35 came stock in the 91-94 Xploder, and up to the 97 Ranger. They are a direct, no welding required bolt in. It is NOT a "SAS" axle, it is the same design as the D28- Twin Traction Beam, or TTB for short. The axle is a stouter unit, using larger parts, is easier to find parts for in the junkyard, as the Dana28 is a long gone axle. I "believe" that the Dana35 is a wider axle, bit only a small amount. That is a GOOD thing, as it will help with stability, esp. in a BII.
You can find a D35 with the same gear ratio as the one under your BII with a little bit of looking, so you wont have to re-gear. Try to find one (good luck!) with manual lockout hubs, as the factory auto hubs are known for failure.

so what do i need to swap over to a D35?? steering linkage? what about drive shaft? can i use my factory one?? need answers, im starting to think my D28 isnt work fixing..

From what I know, the steering linkage is the same, or at least interchangeable the driveshaft will need to be shortend or if you can find one from a B2 with a d35.

with removing the axles, the driver side(short side) will pull out but the pass side has an e-clip inside the diff that requires removing the diff to get to. but it is a 2 piece shaft so you can just take the outer shaft out and leave the stub in the diff

not to jack your thread, but will an explorer rear axle bolt in?
