some time ago i ran up the the store with my truck and i did the stupid thing of flooring it letting up and putting it to the floor again for a second and right after i did i coasted into the store parking lot not realizing there was anything wrong, so when i go to leave i put the truck in reverse and the tranny slipped horribly i tried every gear with the same result, so i called my friend and we pulled the truck home, well after a while i was playing with it and reverse engaged just fine, i actually drove down the road and back in reverse. after a while i played with it again and 2nd gear worked then drive worked, now i can drive the truck in drive but it has issues shifting into 2nd and occassinaly if im going 60 mph or so i can shift to OD and it will engage, btw the truck is a 89 with a 2.9L any help is verry appreciated

also if the gear selector is in OD but the tranny is in any gear but 4th it slips like hell

So you floored it and let off just before it shifted, floored it again? I've never heard of that happening where it totally goofs up the trans but this might be proof!

Did you check the fluid? How does it look/smell? Any issues in the past with the trans? Hard shifts or sloppy shifts?

fluid is perfect verry red and still smells fresh, and no prior issues always shifted firm but not excessivly

Sounds like you burned up the friction discs in the direct drives as well as the pads around the planetarys. R1Hatman just finished his transmission c-4 which is the same as your c-5 so pick his brain while its fresh in his mind.
