I have a 1986 ford ranger with a 302 V8 with a carburetor.
the truck is been running really strong for years but about 3 weeks ago the carburetor stop sending fuel to the engine.
I have also a 1964 ford pick up same engine and carburetor so a use this carburetor to see the reaction with the ranger after that the ranger runs fine BUT when you try to drive runs fine for a minute and then quit (stop) .
I start the engine again and start easy ,sounds good but when you try to drive again quit.

the coil get really hot, is this normal ? ( ??????????? )
P.S.the truck have a new electric fuel pump.
Fuel or electric ?

when the truck is running do you smell gas?? i would bet that a needle valve isnt seated and it is holding your secondaries open, it will allow the truck to run but once you touch the gas it will kill it. i just had the same problem with 2 of my carbs, and a fellow ford enthusiast had the same problem with 3 carbs.....i feel a conspiracy in the air:shok:

Has it been sitting for a long time with the same gas in it?
