Hey guys my name is Jason and im looking to buy my very first Ford Ranger in a couple weeks and would like to hear what the more experienced people have to say. I am currently looking at a 1994 extended cab 3.0 4x4 5speed on craigslist and also the late 80's- early 90's Rangers.
I will be using the truck as a daily driver and also take it on hunting trips, going up snowboarding and maybe a little offroading. I live in the cascades of Western Washington so it would need to be able to drive in winter weather. I would like an extended cab.
What model do you think would fit my needs?
Also does the 3.0 engine have the capabilty of offroad and winter driving?
Thanks, Jason

the 3.0 is a solid engine, not as powerful as the 4.0, but still reliable. and reliable is what you want when you take it into the mountains. read here:

the extended cab would seem to suit your needs very well, imho. once you get it, i'm sure you'll be wanting to evaluate it for a lift (big or small), larger and more aggressive tires, and lower gears to help you when pulling those mountain roads.
there is lots of good information here, especially in the Tech Library. and there are lots of good people here to help you out as well. read up on your truck all you can, ask questions, and most important: take and post pics of your truck and how you mod it!
jk!
Welcome to TRS, and Happy Holidays to you and your family.

Thanks boss, very warm greeting but i aint no bleeding heart liberal, you can say Merry Christmas to me. haha.

some people like regular cabs, but especially for a ranger i like the supercab. i hardly ever put people back there but the extra space is real handy for dry/warm storage, don't know what i would do without the extra room there. Sounds like youre already looking at an extended cab but just thought i'd reinforce the case for one. . . even with the puny jump seats
welcome and merry xmas

yes my mind is pretty much set on a extended cab, and i really want to put a lift kit on it but havent decided exactly what i want, something not too expensive though.

Aso what is a fair price for a 94 ranger in your areas?

i'd be willing to pay up to 2500 probably if it was in good shape and around 100k.
heres a link to one in my area (CT) which i feel is fairly priced.. . . its a 4.0 but other than that sounds pretty comparable to what youre looking for. just

thought it might be helpful to see an example
