help lining up timing sprockets

do i line up the dizzy drive sprocket with the cam like this?

It dosen't matter where the gear is, what matters is where the rotor in the dis is in relationship to the cam shaft. just put it as close as you can to where you think it was, then you're gonna need a timing light. And adjust the dizzy until the timing is where you want it. at least that's the only way i can think of doing it. maybe someone else is smarter :D

It doesent matter where you put that mark as long as the dist is set to #1 at TDC If you want to be critical about it the timing covers do show where to index all the gears. If my memory serves me correct (dont happen much) the lower bolt in the pic is usually where its pointed at. Cam gear needs to be straight down or the best way is to level the engine side to side then balance a level on the cam lobes on # 1 cyl. when its level its degreed correctly.
